Welcome to the Proteomic Forum 2011 in Berlin
Sunday, April 3 to Thursday, April 7, 2011
Freie Universität Berlin
Dear Colleagues,
We are very happy, that after very difficult weeks of uncertainty and financial challenges Proteomic Forum 2011 can happen as planned. During the past weeks, we have received encouragement and support from many of you to go ahead with the conference rather than cancelling it. Most importantly, we received financial support beyond our initial expectations: With the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the German Research Council as our main institutional sponsors and Waters Corporation as our major industrial sponsor we were able to preserve the conference as planned. Two EU consortia, ENFIN and Affinomics, as well three companies, SERVA, RiNA and Thermo Fisher Scientific spontaneously provided additional support. As we lost all our initial funds including most registration fees and incomes from the industrial exhibition, this support was critical for making the Proteomics Forum happen, thereby benefiting all of us. The German Society of Proteome Research, DGPF, and the scientific organizers would like to express their gratitude to all sponsors for their generous support.
As a consequence of CTW’s bankruptcy, we had to take over all organizational responsibilities four weeks before the conference’s start. A new organizational team took over and it was the quality of their efforts and their willingness to solve even trickiest problems that enabled us to set up the conference from scratch: Christian Kleinhammer, Saskia Hanf, Leo Tristram, Christian Stephan, Barbara Müller and many others made the impossible happen. Now, Proteomic Forum 2011 is “ready to go” and we are happy to enjoy your presence and active participation.
Leading experts from all over the world will provide insight into the most recent advances in proteomics technologies and applications. More than 30 exhibitors will expose cutting edge technologies and provide expertise to solve even difficult analytical problems. New areas will be explored such as quantitative analysis and systems biology and expose you to ongoing trends and new topics. Interactive sessions will offer you active participation and networking. Please take the chance to visit the industrial exhibition as well as the poster sessions and engage in active discussions.
We wish you all exciting insights and a rewarding scientific exchange. Enyoy the meeting!
